This book presents a historical analysis of the origin, development, and role of journalism in Meghalaya. It focuses primarily on the development of journalism in the region from its inception in 1879 up to the attainment of statehood in 1972 and also includes an overview of journalistic developments in the post-statehood era. The study critically examines how newspapers reported on key socio-political, cultural, and economic issues during this period and contributed to socio-cultural awakening and political consciousness of the people of the region.
