ABOUT THE BOOK This book is the outcome of a long and passionate journey into the prehistoric past of Odisha, particularly the Khadga River Valley. My deep interest in archaeology began at the very start of my M.A. career, when I first developed a close connection with the land, its people, and its buried histories. I have been profoundly inspired by Dr. P. K. Behera, whose guidance and work in the field of prehistoric archaeology motivated me to pursue this path with determination. The journey of exploration and research over five years was not without challenges. Many of the sites lay far from accessible routes, and I often travelled long distances on foot through difficult terrains. At times, I faced food shortages, financial constraints, and a lack of proper equipment for analysis. Yet, each obstacle strengthened my commitment to uncovering the prehistoric story of this region. The process of walking along the rivers, identifying artefacts, and documenting sites gave me a profound sense of purpose and connection with the early human past. I owe a deep debt of gratitude to Mr. Manoj Mahana, who consistently supported me during my field explorations. His help in critical moments is something I will never forget. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to my research guide, Dr. Neena Thakur, for her constant encouragement and scholarly guidance, and to my family members for their unwavering support through every hardship and achievement.
