ABOUT THE BOOK The book "Vocal for Local: Indigenous Knowledge and Sustainable Development in Tribal India" comes under the umbrella of "Vocal for Local," which is the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India's vision and a missionary effort to promote local goods on the international market, become self-sufficient, self-reliant in the production and supply as well as consume goods produced for the sustainable development of tribal communities. Day by day the greater tradition has a larger impact on society and little tradition has loose its importance as a result the tribal identity, culture, religion and livelihood is becoming a question mark for the next generation. It is the need of the hour to retrieve the indigenous knowledge system and preserve its importance for the future perspective. Besides, due to a number of circumstances, such as urbanization, industrialization, modernization, and westernization, these indigenous knowledge systems are in danger of going extinct and urgently require assistance to survive. This book, which contains 10 research articles that cover the various areas of livelihood related indigenous knowledge system and practices that are linked to their survival, is a modest attempt to present different kinds of indigenous cultural practices of tribes to the global market for their increased popularity.
